🧵 The yarn

Lang Yarns' Paillettes Yarn is a decorative yarn designed to be worked doubled up with other yarns. It is not meant to be used on its own, but as a valuable accompanying yarn that adds shimmer and movement to your projects. Small sequins are applied throughout the yarn, catching the light and creating an elegant, never-too-much sparkling effect.

Each skein weighs 25 grams and offers approximately 112 meters of yarn. It is worked with needles 3.5-4.0 or a crochet hook 3.5-4.5, paired with your favorite mohair, cotton, wool, or cashmere yarn. The result is a garment that shines with its own light, perfect for special occasions or adding a touch of glamour to your everyday projects.

🧬 Technical composition: why it works

The yarn is made of 55% polyamide, an extremely durable synthetic fiber that ensures long-lasting wear and keeps the sequins firmly attached to the yarn. Polyamide is lightweight, elastic, and does not lose its shape with use—essential qualities for a decorative yarn that must retain its structure even after numerous washes.

The remaining 45% is polyester, which adds softness and makes working with the yarn easier. Polyester improves the yarn's glide through the fingers and reduces static electricity, making knitting or crocheting more enjoyable. This combination of synthetic fibers is ideal for sequined yarn because it does not absorb moisture and keeps the decorations bright and intact over time.

📦 Skein size and yield

Each skein weighs 25 grams and offers approximately 112 meters of yarn. As an accompanying yarn, the yield depends on the project and the base yarn you pair it with. For a medium shawl measuring approximately 180x60 cm, worked doubled up with a base yarn, you will need approximately 4-6 skeins of Paillettes.

For a lightweight stole, 2-3 skeins are enough, while an elegant cardigan or jacket may require 8-12 skeins, depending on the size. We recommend purchasing all the necessary skeins at once to ensure they come from the same dye lot and that the sequins have the same shade and distribution.

🧶 Recommended working method

Paillettes Yarn is worked with needles 3.5-4.0 or a crochet hook 3.5-4.5, always paired with a base yarn. The needle size depends on the yarn you choose to pair it with: if you use mohair or a fine yarn, opt for size 3.5; if you pair it with a bulkier yarn such as wool or thick cotton, use size 4.0. The important thing is that the Paillettes yarn glides along with the base yarn without creating tension.

For crochet, Paillettes yarn is perfect for openwork stitches such as the fan stitch or the spider stitch, which highlight the sequins and create elegant plays of light. Even beginners can work with this yarn without difficulty: simply hold the two yarns together as if they were one and proceed normally with the chosen stitch.

✨ Why choose Lang Yarns' Paillettes Yarn

Unlike other sequined yarns that can be stiff or difficult to work with, Lang Yarns' Paillettes Yarn has a soft feel and glides easily through the fingers. The sequins are evenly distributed along the yarn and do not come off during working or washing. This makes it reliable for projects you want to keep for years to come.

The real advantage of this yarn is its versatility: you can pair it with any base yarn to create the effect you want. With mohair, you get a soft, luminous garment; with cotton, a more structured and fresh result; with wool, a warm and sparkling garment. Lang Yarns is a Swiss brand recognized for the consistent quality of its yarns, and this Paillettes yarn is no exception.

🎨 What you can create

Paillettes Yarn is perfect for any project where you want to add a touch of light and elegance. Shawls and stoles are classics, but you can also use it for summer tops, elegant cardigans, evening bags, collars, and decorative cuffs. Many enthusiasts use it to add shimmering stripes or borders to sweaters and jackets, creating unique details without weighing down the garment.

👩‍🎨 Who it is suitable for

This yarn is suitable for both beginners and experienced crafters. If you are new to knitting or crochet, working doubled up helps you get used to tension and achieve a fuller, more even result. The sequins make any small imperfections less noticeable, so it is perfect for anyone who wants to create an elegant garment without too much pressure.

Those who typically buy it are knitting and crochet enthusiasts looking for a yarn for special occasions: weddings, parties, and evening events. Many also use it to create elegant gifts such as shawls for mothers and grandmothers, or to make accessories to sell on craft platforms. If you love experimenting and want to add a touch of glamour to your projects, this yarn is for you.
