🧵 Half-Crystal Beads
6mm faceted half-crystal beads are among the most popular in the world of DIY jewelry and handcrafted costume jewelry. The term "half-crystal" refers to a glass working technique that reproduces the brilliant effect of real crystal, with facets that capture and reflect light, creating a sparkling and luminous effect. These beads are designed for those seeking elegance and versatility without sacrificing practicality.
The blister pack of 50 beads (approximate quantity, may vary between 48-52 pieces) offers a practical and convenient format to store, ideal for medium-sized projects or for adding brilliant details to more complex creations. The approx. 1mm hole makes them compatible with nylon thread, elastic thread, cords, and embroidery thread, suitable for both beginners and experts.
🧬 Faceted Glass: Why It Works
The glass used for these beads is worked with a faceting technique that creates multiple reflective surfaces. Each facet acts as a small mirror, capturing ambient light and reflecting it with a sparkling effect that enhances any creation. This manufacturing process is what distinguishes half-crystal from smooth beads: the brilliance does not depend solely on the color, but on the geometry of the bead itself.
The 6mm round shape is the most versatile and widely used size in costume jewelry: large enough to be visible and decorative, but not excessive, perfect for necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and textile decorations. Some variants feature special finishes such as the aurora borealis effect, an iridescent coating that adds shifting hues and a touch of magic to every project.
📦 Blister Pack Size and Thread Compatibility
The blister pack of 50 beads is the ideal format for those working on medium projects or who want to experiment with new colors without committing to large quantities. The packaging protects the beads from impacts and scratches, keeping the brilliance of the facets intact. The quantity may vary slightly (approx. 48-52 pieces) depending on production batches, a standard tolerance for this type of product.
The 1mm hole allows use with 0.3-0.6mm nylon thread, elastic thread for bracelets, cords up to 1mm, and embroidery thread. This versatility makes them suitable for both simple assembly techniques (direct stringing) and more complex techniques such as weaving and bead embroidery. If you work with patterns that require multiple passes of the thread, always check the hole diameter before starting.
🧶 Recommended Working Techniques
6mm half-crystal beads are perfect for DIY jewelry: single- or multi-strand necklaces, elastic bracelets, and drop earrings. Their brilliance makes them ideal as statement pieces, but they work just as well as an accent element in more complex compositions. For simple assembly, use clear or colored nylon thread matching the shade of the beads.
For more advanced techniques, these beads are excellent for jewelry embroidery (bead embroidery on felt or fabric), peyote weaving, brick stitch, and right angle weave. In these techniques, half-crystal adds highlights and visual depth, enhancing the craftsmanship. Pair them with conteria rocailles to fill spaces and create texture contrasts.
✨ Why Choose 6mm Half-Crystal Beads
Compared to smooth or matte beads, faceted half-crystal offers superior brilliance without the cost of Swarovski or Preciosa crystal. It is the ideal choice for those seeking an elegant and luminous effect while maintaining an affordable budget. The glass manufacturing ensures resistance and durability over time: the facets do not become dull, and the color does not fade.
The 6mm size is the most requested because it balances visibility and lightness: the creations are elegant without being heavy. The blister pack format is practical for those working on commission or for hobbyists who want to test new colors before purchasing larger quantities. Each blister pack is easy to store and protects the beads from dust and scratches.
🎨 What You Can Create
6mm half-crystal beads are perfect for classic and contemporary jewelry, jewelry embroidery with brilliant details, textile decorations on bags and accessories, peyote and brick stitch weaving patterns, drop and chandelier earrings, multicolored elastic bracelets, and multi-strand cascade-effect necklaces.
👩🎨 Who It Is Suitable For
These beads are suitable for both beginners and experts. The 1mm hole makes stringing easier even for those just starting out, while the brilliance of half-crystal ensures an elegant result even with simple techniques. For beginners, we recommend starting with elastic bracelets or single-strand necklaces.
Experienced hobbyists appreciate these beads for their versatility in weaving and embroidery techniques, while artisans who sell them choose them for their value for money and the wide range of colors available. Also ideal for those seeking materials for party favors, personalized accessories, or handmade gifts.

📌 Important Note
The number of beads per blister pack may vary slightly (approximately 48–52 pieces) depending on the production batch. Colors may also differ slightly from one batch to another. For projects requiring multiple blister packs of the same color, we recommend purchasing the required quantity at once. The aurora borealis and iridescent variants feature shifting hues that change depending on the angle of the light.
